PTO Meeting Recap
We had our final PTO meeting of this school year last Tuesday. We successfully voted in the 2023/24 PTO Budget, but we still do not have a President, Vice President or Secretary for the next school year. The PTO cannot continue next year without these roles filled!! Please reach out to Stacie Ciraulo at pto.president@kennedycougarspto.org if you are interested in learning more. We will hold a special meeting to elect new officers if we have people step up.

Dine Out Fundraiser – Redwood City BBQ
Our ALL DAY Dine Out fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, June 1 at Redwood City BBQ (640 Woodside Road, RWC). Support Kennedy and eat out – it’s a win, win! Online order code: KMS – www.redwoodcitybbq.com.
June and July Birthday Cupcakes
We will celebrate June and July birthdays with cupcakes at lunch on Friday, June 2.
8th Grade Grad Dance – Thursday, June 8
All hands on deck!! We need LOTS of help with the 8th grade graduation dance on Thursday, June 8. Parents of 6th and 7th graders are needed to help with the food table and chaperoning duties at the dance on June 8. Parents of 8th graders are needed to help decorate the gym, set up and clean up from June 6-8. Sign up to help at the links below.

Open PTO Leadership Roles for 2023/24
OPEN PTO Leadership Roles for 2023/24…as stated above, these must be filled for the PTO to continue next year! Please consider taking on one of these vital roles.
- PTO President: work with KMS admin to plan calendar and how PTO will support KMS events and activities. Lead meetings. Plan budget. Support and resource other PTO leaders on the team. Recruit PTO leadership.
- PTO Vice President: work closely with PTO President to share the leadership load.
- PTO Secretary: set up PTO meetings and agendas. Take minutes at monthly PTO meetings. Maintain PTO archives/google suite.
- STEAM Liaison: work with KMS STEAM Program lead teacher to support program. Coordinate family volunteers for program as needed.
- Fundraising/Grant Writing: help with KMS PTO fundraising through grant writing and procuring corporate donor partnerships.
- Student Activities Liaison: help coordinate food and volunteers for 2 Kennedy dances. Help Kennedy admin with fun events and activities on campus.
Donations for 8th Grade Events & Activities
We have only had about 80 families (out of 220) contribute so far! The Kennedy school & KMS PTO fund all 8th grade activities & events at KMS so that ALL students have equal access to those events & activities. We do ask each family to contribute $75, or whatever they can, to offset the nearly $25k cost of the 8th grade events this year.
Make your contribution online through PayPal or the PTO online store. If you make your payment online, please include a note with the name of your student. You may also pay by check by leaving it in the PTO box in the school office. Please note your student’s name on the check.
Kids Cooking for Life
Kids Cooking for Life is looking for a Kennedy educator or parent who has relevant experience to teach cooking at the summer camp through the Boys & Girls Club at Hoover School this coming June and July. Kids Cooking for Life is a non-profit organization devoted to teaching nutrition and hands-on cooking classes to children. The program runs from June 20 to July 21 (Monday through Thursday from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm over the 5 weeks). The total compensation is $4,575 for half a day, four days each week. We strive to recruit within the community, so a Kennedy educator or a parent who has relevant experience would be a great fit.
