There were approximately 50 students that attended the initial STEAM meeting however, we received only a small handful (5-6) of completed proposals. In order to support those students who would still like to participate but need help with their ideas and proposals, we will be offering support at lunchtime the week of February 27th:
- Ms. Ruiz and Mr. Oropeza will be available in Ms. Ruiz’s room, B8, during 6th grade lunch
- Mr. Lopez and Ms. Territo will be available in Ms. Territo’s room, 534, during 7th/8th grade lunch
Please continue to encourage your student to participate in the STEAM fair and let them know that they can get the support they need on campus to help them be successful in this process.
Join other Kennedy families for the annual 7th grade Grand Canyon Trip Fundraiser. It’s an all-you-can-eat event to raise funds to send our 7th grade students on an ecology trip to the Grand Canyon.
Breakfast is served on Saturday, March 4th from 8 am to 11 am in the Kennedy Gymnasium.
$5.00 per person, children 5 and under are free!
Our music students will participate in the Sequoia Music Festival on Friday, March 10th, 2017. This event will take place at Sequoia High School where they will perform music that they have been working on in the 2017 school year.
Participating students should report to the music room at 12:45 to prepare for departure. Students will need to bring (or wear) their black slacks, nice black shoes, white button up shirt, and music tie to school that day. The bus will arrive back at Kennedy Middle School around 5:15 pm.
Parents are welcome to attend their student’s performance in the SHS Auditorium.

On Friday, May 5th, our music students will be participating in music festival competition at Milpitas High School where they will be performing music that they have been working on in the 2017 school year. As one of many schools participating in this event, Kennedy students will not only get the chance to perform, but will support other Kennedy performance groups and get a chance to listen to other school’s ensembles.
Participating music students will be excused from school at 2:15 pm and will return to Kennedy for pick up around 8:15 pm. They should wear or bring a white button up shirt, black slacks/skirt, nice black shoes, and music tie (provided).
Parents are welcome to attend the following performance times:
- Advanced Orchestra: 4:25pm
- Intermediate Orchestra: 5:15pm
- Intermediate Band: 6:05pm
- Advanced Band: 6:55pm
On Saturday, May 6th, Kennedy music student will attend an optional (but highly recommended) field trip to California’s Great America. Here, we will be spending a day in the amusement park and attending an awards ceremony for all of the music programs that have attended the festival for the weekend of May 5th and 6th. The music program will come home with a trophy which will rank our placement among the rest of the schools.
Students will meet in the music room at 11:30 am to depart and will return at Kennedy around 7:15pm. The students will be traveling by bus. They should wear a Kennedy Music T-shirt, closed in shoes, and sunscreen. You can purchase a Kennedy Music T-Shirt through the new Kennedy Music Store.

The next PTO meeting will be on Tuesday, February 21st from 7 – 8:30 pm. We will be meeting in the Kennedy library and everyone is welcome.

The Kennedy Music Night was an extraordinary success. Ms. Hopkins and our Kennedy student musicians performed with aplomb to a packed house–standing room only–in the Kennedy gym, showcasing tunes reflecting holiday and happy themes.
Thank you to our numerous Kennedy administrative, teacher, and staff volunteers, coming in on their own time in the evening in order to make sure we had an safe and welcoming show. Our custodial staff also contributed greatly to this success.
I continue to be greatly impressed by the school spirit of the Kennedy Community, students, staff, administration and teachers.
