Kennedy Color Run

Permission Slips must be filled out on paper and are available in the office up until Thursday, May 9th. Online permission slips are no longer available.

We are excited to announce that the 1st annual Kennedy Color Run will be held during 7th period on Friday, May 10. The course will be held on the Kennedy field, where students will pass through the color zone and get doused in festive colors from head to toe!

Participation in this fun event is free! Students are encouraged to earn pledges for their participation and for every $25 earned in pledges, the student will receive a raffle ticket that can be entered into a drawing for some great prizes. Visit our fundraising page: https://99pledges.com/fund/JFK and search for your child’s name. All participants must complete a permission slip. Permission slips will not be accepted after April 30th and students will not be allowed to participate without one.

What is a Color Run?

The Color Run a fun, untimed run (or walk) that will be held on the Kennedy field. As students move through the course, they will be doused from head to toe in a festive, colored (non-toxic) powder. We encourage participants to wear white or light colored clothing at the starting line and finish the race plastered in color. Once the race is over, the students will enjoy some ice cream and the Color Blast party finale. There will be a Photo Booth available for students to take souvenir photos. Students who do not wish to be doused in color may bypass the color zone completely.

What do I wear?

A plain white shirt is suggested so you can start the race as a “blank canvas.” Sunglasses will be provided for each participant to help protect the eyes from the powder.

Is the color permanent?

Most of the color simply washes right out. There might be some staining with the brighter colors but this all adds to the funky fun!

Is the color safe?

The color is super safe and made from a mixture of corn starch and food dye.

How can I protect the inside of my car?

Most of the time a towel on the seat is all you need. The powder cleans up nicely with a damp towel.

Does my child have to run?

No. Walkers, runners, joggers of all abilities are welcome to participate.

Why should we join the race?

1. It’s free! All students are welcome, with a signed permission slip.
2. It is a great opportunity to have fun with friends.
3. Students are encouraged to earn pledges for their participation in this fun event. For every $25 earned in pledges, the student will receive a raffle ticket that can be entered into a drawing for some great prizes.
4. This event will support our school and PTO.

What is at the end of the race?

Loads of laughter, ice cream and a Photo Booth.

Can I preserve the color in my shirt?

Try to spray the shirt with vinegar and iron it on to help set the design.

¿Qué es una Carrera de Color?

Color Run es una carrera (o caminata) divertida que se llevará a cabo en el campo Kennedy. A medida que los alumnos avanzan en el curso, se rociarán de la cabeza a los pies en un polvo brillante, de color (no tóxico). Avisamos a los participantes de usar ropa blanca o de colores claros en la línea de salida y terminar la carrera en color. Una vez que la carrera haya terminado, los estudiantes disfrutarán un poco de helado y el final de la fiesta Color Blast. Habrá una estación de fotos disponible para que los estudiantes tomen fotos de recuerdo. Los estudiantes que no deseen ser bañados en color pueden pasar por alto la zona de color por completo.

¿Que me pongo?

Se sugiere una camisa blanca lisa para que pueda comenzar la carrera como un “lienzo en blanco”. Se proporcionarán gafas de sol para que cada participante ayude a proteger los ojos del polvo.

¿Es el color permanente?

La mayor parte del color simplemente se lava. Puede haber algunas manchas con los colores más brillantes, ¡pero todo esto se suma a la diversión!
