As our 8th grade students get ready to graduate and move on to the Sequoia Union High School District, there is important information you need to know to make certain that your child is ready for the beginning of their high school journey.
SUHSD Open Enrollment & Address Verification
Open Enrollment – Deadline February 2, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. – Ninth Grade Open Enrollment is a period of time when an incoming 9th grade student (current 8th graders) may request a high school other than their assigned home school to attend. You must complete an online Open Enrollment Transfer Application to be eligible. Address Verification – Deadline no later than April 27, 2018 – An address verification form must be on file for every student in the Sequoia Union High School District. Please use the link below for the form and complete instructions. Forms will be accepted at the SUHSD office beginning November 1, 2017 and should be submitted NO LATER than April 27, 2018. High School Open House for Prospective Students and Families
Woodside High School: Come and Walk in Our Paws! Experience life as a Woodside Wildcat student and family at our Open House on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9 am to 12 noon. Tour our campus, see our classrooms, and meet our teachers. Student-led campus tours will take you to our English and Math classrooms, new STEM building, Digital Media Center, Music Room, Science labs, sports facilities, and art spaces. After your tour, visit the MUR to chat with our top Woodside administrators, while enjoying refreshments courtesy of our Woodside PTSA. Please register for a tour time so we save you a spot! Tours will be from 9am – 12pm, starting in 15 minute intervals. Please click here to select your preferred time.
During the open house, Woodside’s Wildcats robotics team would also like to invite Kennedy middle school students to a hands-on program trains all interested students in marketing, writing, teamwork, mechanics, animation, electronics, fabrication, programming, web-site design, and recovering from failures. Menlo-Atherton High School: M-A Open House is on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Open House offers current and potential families the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of campus and meet teachers from all departments in their classrooms. New families to M-A may attend our family resource fair in the PAC café. Families will receive information about course selection, address verification, summer programs and much more.
Sequoia 8th Grade IB Information “We Are IB” Meeting
This year Sequoia High School is hosting an 8th Grade IB Info Meeting on Wednesday, January 17th, 2018. The English meeting will be held from 6:00-7:30 pm in Carrington Hall and the Spanish meeting will be held from 6:00-7:30 pm in the school library. The Open Enrollment deadline is usually at the beginning of February so this gives you time to come and learn what Sequoia’s IB Program is all about before you make your high school decisions. Kennedy High School Fair Night
To help with this transition, Kennedy hosts a High School Fair Night. This event took place in October for the 2017/18 school year and will be announced in the fall of 2018 for the 2018/19 school year. Please stay tuned. At this event you will learn about attending and applying to Redwood City area high schools (public, charter, private), high school programs and much more!

Redwood City 8th grade students have the opportunity to shadow current Sequoia Union High School students allowing them to experience a day on the campus of their choice. Click on the link below to go to each school’s website and visit their shadowing page. Sign-ups usually start in September so be sure to sign-up early as these dates fill quickly!
